Printmaking or Death!
My artwork explores animal imagery through portraits and designs that remove these creatures from their habitats. These portraits invite the viewer to examine the connection between humans and nature. The graphic quality of the linoleum cut carving contrasts with the gentle lines and textures of gelatin plate printing, silkscreened designs and hand dyed fabrics and papers separate them from our familiar world. Merging these elements provokes thoughts on nature, perception, and evolving realities. These portraits seek to comment on our relationship with the natural world and urges viewers to consider their connections with these animals.
